About Us
Founded in the mid-1980’s, Heintzelman Accounting Services is a small, independent firm dedicated to providing highly personalized accounting services to local area companies and individuals. Enjoying a reputation for accurate and timely work, we have an experienced, knowledgeable and tightly knit staff.
We specialize in the detail work of accounting. We complement CPA’s in their areas of audit, tax and corporate counsel, and perform the day-to-day accounting work that supplements, or in some cases, substitutes for, our clients’ in-house staff.
Noted for our continuity of assigned personnel, our accountants have personal knowledge of our clients’ specific businesses, and work to maintain and nurture effective working relationships.
All services are provided either on- or off-site.
Our Staff
Kathryn M. Heintzelman, President
BBA, Grand Valley State University
Kathy started Heintzelman Accounting Services, Inc. in 1987 and has over 30 years accounting experience; including 20 years in the public accounting field. Kathy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Grand Valley State University. She is a member of the National Society of Accountants and the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs.
Melanie D. Willis, Accountant
Associates in Accounting, Stratford Career Institute
Melanie has been with Heintzelman Accounting Services, Inc. since 2000, bringing with her eight years experience in accounting and tax preparation. She graduated with a degree in accounting in 1999. As Heintzelman Accounting’s primary tax preparer, Melanie also specializes in assisting clients in a variety of industries to set up, simplify, and maintain their bookkeeping or accounting system.
Susan J. Huyck, Accountant
Davenport University, Grand Valley State University
In January, 2009 Sue re-joined the staff at Heintzelman Accounting Services. She has been servicing clients in public accounting for 22 years. Sue specializes in assisting clients in setting up and maintaining their accounting systems with a focus on developing efficiencies of processes. Additionally, Sue provides QuickBooks training, payroll processing and payroll tax preparation.
Danette A. Vander Ploeg, Support Staff
BA in Advertising, Grand Valley State University
Danette graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising. She has over 18 years experience in office administration and has been with Heintzelman Accounting Services, Inc. since 2000. She provides support in the areas of basic accounting services, database development and maintenance, and general administrative responsibilities.
